Phil Cherry is an agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor who works with students in grades 9-12 at Temple High School.  He hopes to help them gain an appreciation for agriculture and develop skills that will help them prepare for college, career, and life.  He believes that working with young people is a high calling, and strives to develop students’ potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education and FFA.

Phil is beginning his 30th year as an agricultural education teacher, and his students have earned hundreds of local, state, and national awards.  He is the recipient of the American FFA degree, has served as president of the Alabama Association of Agricultural Educators, is an Alabama FFA Wall of Honor Inductee, and was selected as the Alabama FFA Advisor of the year for 2011.  He holds a B.S. and M.Ed. in Agricultural Education from Auburn University and a A.A. certification in Agricultural Education from Alabama A&M University. He hopes his years of experience and passion for working with young people will translate into a top notch  Agricultural Education and FFA program at Temple High School.

Phil has been married to Tina for 29 years.  Their eldest son David attends the University of Alabama in Huntsville (nursing).  Their younger son Jacob attends Auburn University (mechanical engineering). Phil enjoys hunting, fishing, and most outdoor activities.
